Macklemore pays his grandma Helen a surprise visit for her 100th birthday, promising that they can do whatever they want. And even though that set-up would lend itself to easy laughs — and, yes, a male stripper does show up at one point — Macklemore and Grandma are more interesting in tugging those heartstrings.
EDM isn't necessarily dead, but death seemingly plays a role in both the audio and video for this latest collabo from two of the genre's heavyweights, Kaskade and deadmau5 (with help from Skylar Grey). Since we're nearing Halloween, the timing is pretty good for this release, too.
Skylar looks at a past life (her own, I'm assuming) and the accompanying demons captured in natural history dioramas in this b/w clip. Considering she's wearing a killer see-through dress and six-inch heels (I think), I'm pretty sure she's doing just fine now.
Skylar Grey clearly knows that there's something not to be trusted about her boyfriend and their camping trip, while the camera and its attached light strains to illuminate that truth.
Skylar Grey is back from the grave — or at least a nearby lake — thereby mucking up a couple's delicate charade of a relationship. It's not I Spit On Your Grave, but that kind of menace is rippling just beneath the surface.
