The video for Pusha T's "King Brown" — co-produced by actor and hip-hop afficianado Joaquin Phoenix — isn't all that revealing, even when the lights go bright.
American Idol season 11 finalist Heejun isn't playing around with his comeback. This slick video covers all the bases: We get the pretty girl, some retro cars, the occasional rumble to match each EDM drop, hipster glasses, sparklers, skateboarders, a Pusha-T rap break, and even a world premiere co-signed by Ryan Seacrest.
Pusha T leaves the trap and goes to Paris, but this isn't the Paris of glittering shops and world famous landmarks. Director So Me crafts a grimy underworld that is barely recognizable as the City of Lights. There are pretty girls, but we barely glimpse them. There is a Kanye cameo (Yemeo?) but it is so short it could almost be subliminal.
Pusha T and Rick Ross explore their home territory, a seedy underworld of, well, it has something to do with kilos and Arm & Hammer. Director Samuel Rogers creates a visual world where the smoke is thick, the daylight is harsh and eventually somebody kicks down the door. Come for the Griselda Blanco lookalike, stay for Pusha's wide-eyed performance.
