It may seem like Janelle Monae has let her hair down and delivered a straight-up performance — albeit a bouyant and off-kilter one, in the vein of "Hey Ya" — but then things cut away to a breaking news story about the Dance Apocalypse. As Pitchfork reports, the video is part of a larger film called Dance Apocalyptic — you can read the treatment to it here, written by fellow Wondaland creative spirit Chuck Lightning — where the world has been beset by zombies and various plagues.
