Director Ryan Hope has joined The Directors Bureau for commercial and music video representation in the US.
Hope, recently nominated for Director of the Year at the MVPA Awards, is best known for work that blends sharp conceptual style with substance, combining the best of fashion film with the polished rawness of music video. In that way, Hopeʼs work is reminiscent of the big sweeping productions from the golden age of video production.
"When I saw the Alpines' video, after watching the River Island film, I knew I was watching someone special,” said Lisa Margulis, The Directors Bureauʼs Managing Director and EP. “Roman, Sue and I knew right away that heʼd fit perfectly into the Bureauʼs creative culture. Ryan is constantly creating, whether itʼs directing, writing, or composing music.”
Hopeʼs music video work includes the wildly popular video for George Michaelʼs “White Lights,” starring Kate Moss, as well as videos for Wiz Khalifa feat. The Weeknd, Bombay Bicycle Club, Mona and Alpines. Beyond music video, Hope was commissioned to the create the first River Island fashion film as well as the art documentary, “Skin” for international tastemaker Dasha Zhukova's Garage Magazine.
“When you first start out directing, you aspire to be part of a creative community like The Directors Bureau,” said Hope. “Everything their directors do is proper; itʼs not about work, itʼs about creating something bigger, something more lasting.”
