The Vh1 Hip Hop Honors debut tonight, Monday October 8, at 10pm EDT. Honorees for this fourth annual celebration of classic rap are:
- A Tribe Called Quest
- Missy Elliot
- New Jack Swing — Not an artist, but a hip-hop subgenre that was essentially a rap/r&b hybrid engineered by producer Teddy Riley and associated with former Uptown Records executive Andre Harrell.
- Snoop Dogg
- Whodini
- Wild Style — The 1983 feature film celebration of hip-hop and graffitti artists.
