Death Cab For Cutie
"Shelter Song" (Atlantic)
Aaron Stewart-Ahn, director | Bernadette Spear, producer | Otaku-House, production co | Tarin Anderson, DP | Rob Ryang, editor | Description:
Dealing with worldwide destruction is a tricky thing. On one hand you have the melodrama of the famed 1983 TV movie The Day After, while on the other you have the absurdist comedy of Dr. Strangelove. This final video from Death Cab For Cutie's Directions video album looks at the little things and little people that have occupied many of the other videos in this series. Director Aaron Stewart-Ahn presents what post-apocalyptic life may be like for those left behind in our soon-to-be-built hermetically sealed fallout shelters. In this case, a young girl is left in charge of her two younger brothers, serving as their guardian and teacher. Despite the brave face she puts on for them, she's haunted by memories of her parents (presumably dead) and the emotional protection sorely lacking in their undeground bunker. -- watch "Shelter Song" (up at Directions through Sunday, April 9) or watch for all "eternity" at otaku-house
