The rule of Chekhov's Gun says if we see a gun in the first act, we better see it get used in the third. It doesn't typically apply to music videos, for lots of reasons, but most depressingly because so much imagery in our field is nothing more than simplistic posturing. Directing team BRTHR know better, and although we never see the gun go off or the knife go stab, it's very clear that they have an awful payoff planned for this twisted love story.
"Coming Of Age" plays like a soundtrack video to a long lost '80s movie, where we see that everybody needs to stand up and fight, be it a boxer in the ring or the nerdy school mascot.
Believe it or not, this Ms Mr video is one of the least weird things you'd encounter on Brooklyn's public access network, BCAT. That said, this latest visual treat directed by BRTHR is still abundantly strange. Ms Mr gives a retro-styled performance as a young viewer gets increasingly hypnotized and subsumed by what he sees on-screen, until he essentially becomes one with the TV.
Time might be an illusion, but that doesn't mean that it can't mess with your head. Especially if you've got blood on your hands, and a guilty conscience. This latest video from BRTHR aka Alex Lee and Kyle Wightman, is crazy ambitious, mixing up what seems like countless different effects and treatments in a rapid-fire edit that takes you into what seems to be a similarly crazy mindset.
